The Institute of Waiting is a waiting community in which we transform the supposed “meaningless”, passive and sometimes isolated experience of waiting into a conscious and collective one.
As part of Goethe Investigating, the Institute of Waiting explores, collects, questions, maps, creates and disrupts the different experiences, situations and systems around waiting. How does waiting impact our individual lives and our society as a whole? How can we create interventions, tools and structures to re- claim our waiting time and spend it otherwise?
By taking back our waiting time we protest against the structures that make us wait. We start using this time for ourselves to come together, create solidarity, support each other, exchange our stories, play games or simply take a pause and rest.
